About Me

Welcome family to my genealogy blog! My name is Kelly. I am a mom, a wife, a Zumba® fitness instructor, and forensic science professor with a budding love for history and genealogy.

I began to dabble in ancestry research in 2010. That lasted for about 8 months until I quickly became overwhelmed and discouraged by the inability to discover the records I was searching for so I decided to take a break. Well...what was supposed to be a short break turned into 6 years.
In 2016, I decided to give it another try and I was more motivated than ever to discover the mysteries of my ancestors. For the last year, I have been living and breathing genealogy. I wake up in the morning searching records online, I listen to genealogy audiobooks in my car, and I go to bed mapping out family trees.
I consider myself to be a beginner genealogist but my hope for this blog is that I can share my journey with you and hopefully motivate and inspire some of you along the way to begin tracing your own family history.
One thing I have discovered over the last year is the incredible amount of interconnectedness we all share whether we consider ourselves to be biologically related or not. We are more alike than we are different so when my dad suggested the name "We Are Family" for my blog, I thought to myself, "That is perfect!" Because we are ALL family...we are one big family of humans whose diverse backgrounds make us unique but whose fundamental needs, such as love and family, unite us.
